Our Spring Festival 2025: A joyful celebration of community and tradition
On Friday, May 30th, Armstrong Elementary School held its annual Spring Festival. This is a long-standing tradition that brings together students, staff, families, and the community to celebrate the season and the spirit of our school. Under bright blue skies and summer-like sunshine, the 2025 festival was one to remember.
The celebration began mid-morning with an outdoor concert in front of the historic brick school building, with families and students gathered on the front lawn to enjoy the show. Classes performed songs they had practiced with care, and there was even a lively drumming performance.
One of the most beloved traditions of the Spring Festival is the Maypole dancing, performed by some students in the older grades. AES has two Maypoles, and students worked together to weave the colorful red and white ribbons around them in intricate patterns. While we missed the presence of Ms. Ramsey, who usually leads the Maypole dances, the students did a wonderful job and carried the tradition forward beautifully.
As part of the celebration, Principal Val Edgell took a moment to recognize the AES PAC for their ongoing support of the school and the students. It was a lovely and heartfelt acknowledgment of the community effort that goes into making AES such a special place.
The younger grades melted hearts with a Mother’s Day medley, and the festival wrapped up with a performance of the brick school song, sung by every student in the school. Watching the entire school come together to sing in unison was a powerful reminder of the strong sense of belonging and pride at Armstrong Elementary.
The Spring Festival is always a highlight of the year, and the 2025 event was no exception. Thank you to all the staff, families, and volunteers who helped make the day so special. We’re already looking forward to next year!
