The Executive Committee of the Armstrong Elementary School Parents’ Advisory Council (AES PAC) is a group of elected parent volunteers who coordinate PAC activities, ensure smooth operations, and represent the voice of AES families.
As per the BC School Act, all AES parents and guardians are members of the PAC. The Executive Committee is elected annually at the PAC Annual General Meeting (AGM), usually held in June.

What does the Executive Committee do?
The Executive Committee:
- Coordinates PAC meetings and ensures inclusive decision-making
- Communicates with the principal and school staff on behalf of parents
- Oversees fundraising, budgeting, and financial reporting
- Organizes events, programs, and parent engagement initiatives
- Represents the PAC at district or regional meetings as needed
- Supports the school community through collaboration and leadership
Common PAC Executive Roles
President
The AES PAC President chairs PAC meetings, sets agendas, ensures decisions are followed through, and acts as the official spokesperson of the AES PAC.
Vice-President
The AES PAC Vice-President supports the President, steps in when the President is unavailable, and may lead special projects or committees as needed.
Treasurer
The AES PAC Treasurer manages the PAC’s finances, maintains accurate financial records, prepares financial reports, and ensures that all spending aligns with PAC policies and grant rules.
Secretary
The AES PAC Secretary takes minutes at meetings, keeps PAC records organized, manages correspondence, and ensures timely communication with PAC members.
Directors
AES PAC Directors each manage a specific PAC initiative such as fundraising, Breakfast Club, hot lunch, graduation events, the school garden, and the yearbook. They also assist with general PAC planning and decision-making.

All AES parents and guardians are encouraged to consider a role. You don’t need any prior experience—just a willingness to contribute and collaborate. Training, support, and plenty of coffee provided.
Executive elections take place at the AGM each June. Vacant roles can also be filled during the school year by PAC vote.
