Every school morning, families across Armstrong watch their children head off to class, walking, biking, or scootering along busy streets. And every day, many parents hold their breath, hoping that speeding cars don’t make a routine walk to school dangerous.

That’s why a new community petition has been launched to urge the City of Armstrong to install speed bumps around all local schools.

Despite safety signage and road education, there have been too many close calls recently. We’re a small town full of young families, and our streets should reflect that. Slowing down traffic near schools is one of the simplest, most effective ways to protect our kids.

Speed bumps are proven to reduce driver speeds by 20%–25%, which can mean the difference between a scare and a serious accident. Many communities across Canada already use them to keep kids safe. It’s time Armstrong does the same.

The petition calls for:

  • Speed-calming bumps on streets near Armstrong schools
  • Immediate action by City Council to make school zones safer
  • A shared commitment to protecting the city’s youngest residents

Already, over 400 local residents have signed the petition already:
