Call to Order, Welcome, and Acknowledgement

Meeting called to order at 5:33 PM PST.

We respectfully acknowledge that we are grateful to live, work, and play within the beautiful ancestral, traditional, and unceded territory of the Syilx Okanagan people, Secwepemc Nation and acknowledge the Métis people who reside here.

Principal’s Report

Principal – Val Edgell

  • School wide letter write was successful. Students were seen writing with their adults, siblings and younger buddies. Santa letters have been sent out (accommodation were made during postal strike). Other letters will be held until postal strike is over.
  • Numeracy goal: 183 kids solved problems this month which means they get an extra 15 min recess.
  • Math night for parents: Box Cars & One-eyed jacks; 33 people have registered (AES, HPE, Lenwood). December 18th is the day Val needs to submit numbers. Val will add reminder to end of day announcement for parents to hear, as well as on the white board at the entrance.
  • Report Cards/Learning Updates: December 17th
  • Bylaw/parking: Val was approached by Armstrong By-Law recently with a parking warning; parents parking on Phasant Ridge Rd across from the back parking lot NEED to park further away from the stop sign.
  • Aislinn will post a reminder to parents on the PAC Facebook page.
  • Willing to Ninja had GREAT reviews. They have offered draws for a free month membership (February and May). Discussion for ‘end of the year fun day’ is being held.
  • Math Night for Parents (Box cars & one-eyed jacks) is being held on January 8th 2025. Registration deadline is December 13th. Len Wood and Highland Park parents are invited to attend. Groups will be divided into K-3 and 4-8.
  • AES restored bell (not the original) is being ‘rung’ on December 20th @ 9:15am by Helen Sidney. Aislinn will put a reminder for family and friends to attend the event on PAC Facebook page.

Old Business

AES Garden update:

  • Donations received: Armstrong Vet $150
  • Grant application: Michelle Reinhart applied for 10 gr
  • West Coast Seed fundraiser planned for January
  • Motion: Mary Jane motions to spend $3,000 to get the contractor secured and started

Estimated timeline

Other Notes:

  • Thank-you cards will be made by the Leadership kids.
  • We need volunteers to talk to guests during the Winter Concert.
  • Tammie Turner will stand at the board to promote the garden project.
  • Sam will approach Cedar Solutions for wood.
  • We need someone to approach Tolko to request materials.
  • Please check google doc list of businesses before approaching, as someone may have already.

Fundraising Update:

  • Wrapping paper fundraiser brought in ~$370

Winter Concert:

  • Jordi needs a float for 50/50 and bake sale
  • Volunteer/help needed for Thursday December 19th 2024
  • More baked goods needed for December 18th and 19th

Snow removal update:

  • Contractor hired: Cody
  • Several applicants were redirected to SD83 for interview
  • Cody has been given work even without snow

Math Night registration:

  • Deadline December 13th
  • See Principal report

New Business

  • Val selected 6 skates needing sharpening. $30 was spent.
  • New request: 5 sets of cross-country skis, boots, and poles
  • $1,500–$1,800 needed
  • Motion: Roxanne Landry motions to spend $1,800 from gaming account
  • 1st: Chloe Hale
  • 2nd: Jordi Fraser
  • All in favor; motion passed
