Call to Order, Welcome, and Acknowledgement

Meeting called to order at 6:04 PM PST.

We respectfully acknowledge that we are grateful to live, work, and play within the beautiful ancestral, traditional, and unceded territory of the Syilx Okanagan people, Secwepemc Nation and acknowledge the Métis people who reside here.

Treasurer’s Report

Bank account balances as of September 16th 2024:

  • Operating account: $35,260.65
  • Gaming account: $9,081.59

Note: Currently awaiting anticipated approval for gaming grant ($20/student x 265). Last school year (2023/2024), we spent $17,376.21 and raised $10,927.08 (not including gaming grant).

New Business

  • Spending ‘soon to be’ expired Gaming account funds
  • Tammie reports no funds will ‘disappear’ this school year if not spent.

Expected Spending for 2024/25 School Year

Breakdown of expected spending for the 2024/25 school year (recurring and new costs):

  • Teacher allowance: $2,600
  • Grade 5 hoodies & grad food: $3,000
  • Babysitter for meetings: $500 (may increase)
  • Welcome back BBQ: $800
  • PAC expenses: $250
  • Munchalunch registration: $336
  • May Pole dance Dilly Bars: $175 (Chloe will look into donation)
  • Stamps for school-wide write: $300
  • Chess Club pizza: $300
  • Math Night: $800 (split with HPE)
  • One-to-One Reading pizza: $200
  • Kindergarten Welcome food: $70
  • Kindergarten Grad cake: $150
  • Fun Day swim & ice cream: $600
  • Larch Hills skiing: $600
  • Busing for field trips: $3,600 (~$300 per class)
  • Yearbook (5 extras): $125

Approval of Expected Spending

Motion: Roxanne Landry motioned to spend $14,406 on this year’s anticipated costs.

Special Projects

Willing to Ninja:
Chloe Hale motioned to spend $2,500 for one session for the whole school.

AES Garden Project:
Roxanne Landry motioned to spend $20,000 to start the project.

New Spending Goals

New spending ideas and goals to save up for:

  • Slip and slide plastic
  • Gym equipment
  • Teacher wish list
  • Skate sharpening ($5 per skate; Aislinn to inquire with Heitman)

Funding to support additional staff for field trips (discussion to create list of parent volunteers who can assist other classes as needed)
